How you can heal anxiety and manage stress, using food as medicine
Chronic anxiety can be debilitating and terrifying, and can keep you feeling very stuck and alone. Millions of people around the world suffer with some form of anxiety ranging from mild to severe, and this is a condition that goes hand in hand with chronic health problems. But it does not need to be a life-sentence and in this article I will explain why, as well as giving you the top foods for healing anxiety.
Anxiety is an umbrella term for a range of feelings and symptoms. You may experience tightness in the chest or solar plexus, a racing heart, deep sadness, hopelessness, guilt, isolation or irritability; insomnia, overwhelm, fear for unknown reasons or exhaustion from brain overload. The symptoms vary from person to person depending on what that person is holding with regards emotional wounding and toxic load.
ROOT CAUSES
1) EMOTIONAL WOUNDING, TRAUMA, CHRONIC STRESS
This may seem obvious but it’s important to highlight why. Emotional distress alone is enough to cause physical injury to the body. Why? Because emotions and stress produce a lot of adrenaline, and while that adrenaline is there to protect you in the moment, it is also highly corrosive to the tissues of the body and produces a lot of heat.
If emotional wounds are severe or happening one after another, the brain tissue gets burned and damaged over time, which means electricity cant flow properly and the neurotransmitters, chemicals that enable communication, get depleted. We’re left feeling burnt out, because that’s exactly what’s happening to the tissues of the brain and this can create anxiety, as the flow of electricity in the brain becomes disrupted or scrambled.
2) TOXIC HEAVY METALS
There is not one person who is free from toxic heavy metals, as we are exposed to them everywhere, from the foods we eat, to the water we drink, to the air we breathe. Toxic heavy metals are a root cause of chronic health problems in their own right, as once they are in the body they begin to age, rust and oxidise, and they leak off into the surrounding tissues, including the emotional centers of the brain. Once again this damage to the tissues causes a disruption in the flow of electricity, disrupting communication and creating anxiety, as well as other conditions such as ADHD, OCD, PTSD, Autism, Aspergers, depression and Parkinsons, for example.
3) VIRUSES
We all have them but how they affect us will vary from person to person; it depends on the strain of virus and the toxic load a person carries. The issue with viruses is that they sit inside the liver, feeding off their favourite foods such as heavy metals, herbicides and pesticides, as well as foods such as dairy, gluten, eggs and soy, to name a few. They then excrete waste in the form of neurotoxins, which are poisonous to the body and travel to the brain, where they once again disrupt the flow of electricity. Neurotoxins also affect the nerves in the body making them highly sensitive.
ANXIETY IS A COMBINATION OF CAUSES
So for most people, there will be a combination of causes at play. Every single person has their own brew of toxins, so it is rarely just emotional wounds at play. Where anxiety or mental health issues become long term and chronic, you may be sure there is a brew of toxins in the form of heavy metals and viruses that are also contributing. And the degree, to which someone experiences symptoms, is a reflection of what they are holding in their body.
HEALING FROM ANXIETY
Lifestyle and what you eat is critical when it comes to healing anxiety. Making conscious efforts to clear out the heavy metals and other toxins, as well as knocking back the viruses through what you eat is one of the most powerful ways of alleviating the symptoms of anxiety and other chronic health problems. By doing so, it allows for emotional trauma to heal more easily, as the body does not have to fight so hard.
This is why I advocate so strongly the practice of daily cleansing and nourishing. It enables us to heal and live a life free from symptoms.
