Seaweed Crackers

The only issue with these crackers is that they’re extremely moreish, so be warned!

Seaweed is an extremely underused food in our culture, and yet, it is so packed with nutrients and brilliant for removing toxic heavy metals, radiation, herbicides, pesticides and other toxins from the body. Dulse is especially powerful at removing mercury from deep within the digestive tract and gut. The iodine in dulse helps to boost the immune system and works together with zinc to support the thyroid.

Seaweed crackers

INGREDIENTS

2 Tbsp dulse flakes

135g (1½ cups) gluten free oat flakes

100g sesame seeds

100g pumpkin seeds

100g sunflower seeds

50g flaxseeds

50g chia seeds

½ tsp salt

3 Tbsp olive oil

200 ml water

METHOD

Add the oats and all the seeds to a bowl along with the sea salt and dulse flakes, mixing well. Transfer half the mixture to a food processor and pulse to form a powder. Add the powder back into the bowl and mix again. Whisk together the olive oil and water, and slowly add it into the seed mix to incorporate.

Spread out two sheets of baking parchment beside one another, and then transfer half of the mixture onto each one. Take one more equal size of parchment paper and place it over one seed mixture at a time. Use a rolling pin to spread the mixture thinly into a rectangular shape.

Using a knife, score rectangles into the surface of the dough and bake in the oven for 20-25 minutes. Leave the crackers to cool completely before breaking along the score lines.

Crackers will keep well in an airtight container for about five days.
