Why we should be eating more fruit

Wild blueberries and cranberries

A NOTE ABOUT FRUIT

Since human kind began fruit has been a divine word of wisdom. We have depended on fruit in all its varieties for our survival and the prevention of disease. Fruit is part of our essence. And now, as we inhabit an era of requiring our immune systems to be stronger than ever, lets look to fruit for the answers.

Fruit kills all types of viruses and bacteria. Bananas, wild blueberries, apples and papayas are some of the most powerful destroyers of viruses on earth.

Fruit is vital for gut health – which is essential to a healthy immune system. The pectin in apples, and the skin, pulp and fiber in figs and dates are exceptionally effective at killing, and/or clearing, anything that doesn’t belong in your intestinal tract, including Candida, worms and other parasites.

A woman’s reproductive system relies on fruit for its vitality. It is like a flowering tree that requires proper nutrients to bear fruit. And those nutrients come in large part from fruit we eat.

Fruit has vital components that soothe the adrenal glands, strengthen the endocrine system, repair the vascular system, restore the liver and revitalise the brain. There is no other food – or pill – that enhances the body in this way.

FRUIT FEAR?

If you’re afraid of fruit because you’ve mistakenly been told it contains too much sugar, let go your fear. As humans we cannot function without glucose, which fuels the vital organs - the brain, the heart and the muscles. It is not the protein and fat that fuels and nourishes the body, it is the glucose.

The glucose in fruit is bound with living water, minerals, vitamins, proteins, fats, phyto-chemicals and anti-oxidants that are highly bio-available to the body. It simply cannot be compared to refined sugars, stripped bare of their nutrients and unrecognisable to the human cell in their naked form.

And if you are ill, fruit is a critical part of how you overcome illness. On my healing journey, I would go days just eating fruit and greens to soothe digestive flares, anxiety and hormonal ups and downs, all of which were caused by viruses and toxin exposure.

Just remember that fruit is best eaten alone or with raw vegetables, especially leafy greens. This maximises the ability of glucose to enter the cells and do its job effectively, without being blocked by fat or protein in the process.

And so this May, I encourage you to delight in nature’s abundance of fruit, to let go of any fruit fear you might be holding, and to build your healthy immune system with one of the most powerful foods that exists on planet earth.

3 POWERFUL FRUITS & HOW TO USE THEM

1. Bananas

  • Sleep Disorders - bananas are packed with tryptophan, which promotes sleep and regulates the sleep-wake cycle. Eat before bed to soothe and relax, waiting at least 2 hours after a heavier meal.

  • Gut Problems - one of the most effective aids for gut problems, easing bloating, constipation, diarrhoea and helping to reverse colitis, IBS and crohns. In times of flare ups or digestive discomfort, try eating simply bananas and greens for a day or two. May be taken as smoothies or alone.

2. Papayas

  • Constipation - papaya heals irritated nerves and moves things through the gut. For constipation relief, eat half a papaya daily.

  • Skin Disorders - the vitamins, minerals and carotenoids in papaya help the skin glow and also help to clear eczema, psoriasis and acne.

3. Dates

  • Adrenal Fatigue/stress - Dates are the ultimate stress busters. They are packed with minerals that support the adrenals, whilst also providing readily available glucose to these glands. If you're under pressure with work deadlines or a vigorous physical training schedule, turn to dates.

  • Anti-parasitic - one of the most anti-parasitic foods on the planet, sweeping away mould, fungus, unhelpful bacteria and parasites from the intestinal tract. To see results, eat 4 to 6 dates per day.
